BAHA CALLS FOR THE REHABILITATION OF HEALTH INFRASTRUCTURES.

Bauchi State House of Assembly has Advice the executive arm of government to complete the rehabilitation of the dilapidated infrastructure of the general hospitals and primary health care centres of all the twenty local governments of the state for optimal health care service delivery.
This is squeal to a motion moved and sponsored by member representing Darazu Constituency, Sa’idu Sulaiman Darazo during plenary presided over by the Speaker Abubakar Sulaiman.
Sa’idu Sulaiman urged the House as a matter of urgency to call the attention of government towards addressing the manpower problems by sustaining the ongoing recruiting of Medical Doctors, Nurses and Midwives as well as improve the working conditions and remuneration of healthcare professionals in the state.
“The House should mandate its health and human services committee to visit all the general hospitals and primary health care centres across the state with a view to obtaining first hand information on the state of the facilities and seek reasons on high concentration of health workers in urban areas while rural areas are understaffed”.
In another development, the house has halted the screening process of the state auditor general earlier presented by the state government for not following the necessary criteria.
The house announced this when chairman committee on public accounts Mubarak Haruna presented the report of the committee for legislative action.
The committee recommended that, the nomination be jettisoned since the process and procedures followed were not in accordance with the provisions of the state public sector Audit law 2021.
It further enjoined the state civil service commission to start a fresh process for the appointment taking into consideration relevant provisions of the law so that their action will not be subject to challenges.
Still during the plenary, the house has appealed for the construction of Burra Yadagungume road in Burra constituency of Ningi LGA to enhance the security in the area as well as help in exposing all hideouts of criminals in the area.
This contained in a motion moved by member representing Burra constituency, Ibrahim Tanko Burra noted that the road will link to the ongoing Fuskar Mata Federal road and will serve as an alternative route to people travelling to Abuja from many northeastern States.
“The road will not only boost the economic activities and exploration of untapped mineral resources but also boost irrigation farming in the area hence the need for the government to Include the construction of the road in its twenty-twenty four budget appropriation”.
Still during the plenary, member representing Katagum constituency of Zaki local government Bello Muhammad Maiwa has also moved a calling on the government to construct Zaki to Bursali road which links many villages in the area.
The Tenth Assembly adjourned its sittings and announced the beginning of its first term recess from tomorrow 8th September to 23rd October, 2023.
