Governor Buni Directs Immediate Relief Efforts for Flood Victims

The recent flooding in Jigawa ward, in Potiskum Local Government Area of Yobe State, has left residents in dire need of assistance.

A heavy downpour caused widespread destruction, destroying homes and carrying away valuable items.

One of the victims, Umar Yusuf, emphasised the need for emergency intervention from the government and well-meaning individuals for their survival.

In response, the Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to provide immediate support to the victims.

He acknowledged the devastating impact of the floods and the need for cooperation from communities to find lasting solutions.

To mitigate the effects of flooding, Governor Buni has taken proactive measures, by directing the council Chairman to relocate flood-prone communities to safer areas.

In addition, the SEMA has launched flood preparedness efforts, including training programmes and contingency planning.

The Yobe State Government has demonstrated its commitment to addressing the issue of flooding, with Governor Buni prioritising preventive measures and emergency response.
