Wunti Al-Khair Foundation has trained and empowered six hundred youth from across Bauchi State under its 2025 edition of Skills for Employability Programme.
The programme, themed “Beyond Degrees: Building Employability and Entrepreneurship Skills for a Changing World,” equipped participants with practical tools to thrive in today’s fast-changing labour market.
It encouraged participants to embrace entrepreneurship as a sustainable path to livelihood while developing innovative thinking and adaptability to meet contemporary employment demands.
In a Keynote address, Director of the Centre for Career Services, Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, Malam Murtala Muhammad Alamai, stressed the importance of flexible skills and entrepreneurial courage in a dynamic economy.
Director of Programmes at Wunti Al-Khair Foundation, Ango Mustapha, said the event aimed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and employability by inspiring youth to create opportunities.
The event featured a Hausa-language business pitching competition, where five potential entrepreneurs shared a total of ₦750,000 in non-refundable seed grants to improve their business ventures.
Similarly, twenty small businesses received full sponsorship for Corporate Affairs Commission registration to formalise their operations and enhance access to financial and institutional opportunities.
The foundation also awarded five fully-funded scholarships for Master’s and Postgraduate Diploma studies in Bauchi-based institutions to promote advanced, knowledge-driven leadership among youths.
Experts including Gbade Alkebulan, Elijah Moses and Seun Onarinde made mentorship presentations on communication and personal branding, global and local job opportunities and volunteering as a path to employment.
Highlights of the event were two panel discussions with notable professionals serving as panellists and moderated by Ango Mustapha and Samuel Femi Rasheed.
The discourse focused on Entrepreneurship Success Stories, Employability and Enterprise, where discussants shared insights on transforming ideas into thriving ventures and employers’ expectations within Nigeria’s business landscape and labour market.
